Plant Operations Committee Update (Fall 2010): The SWOWEA Plant Operations Committee has had an active 2010 and plans to finish the year as such. On April 30th, the committee hosted the Spring Operator Education Day at Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering in Kettering to over 80 attendees across all 3 classifications (Collections, Class I, and Class II/III). This event was followed up with the June 3rd O&M Seminar in Xenia where over 80 attendees were offered 6 Contact Hours as well as a delectable lunch and sundae bar from Young's Dairy (which this seminar has become notorious for). Upcoming events for the committee include the Fall Operator Education Day and the Annual Plant Operations Seminar. The Fall Operator Education Day will be held on October 21st at Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering. The session will include an examination review in both math and theory (Collections, Class I, and Class II/III) that will be guided by some of the area leaders in operations training (as well as donuts, refreshments and pizza for a low price of $10). The Annual Plant Operations Seminar will be held on November 18th in Blue Ash. This session will offer over 6 Contact Hours and concurrent sessions to attendees administered by local, regional and national experts in the industry. The Plant Operations committee concentrates its efforts around four major events each year, two O&M seminars and two Operator Education days. The committee strives to provide educational opportunities with a focus on pertinent O&M presentations and low cost contact hours. An additional benefit of these activities is valuable networking with plant operators across the southwest section! The committee meets approximately once a month to plan and coordinate these events.
